Rather than placing eggs and sperm in a conventional laboratory incubator, INVOcell allows these early stages of development to take place inside the woman’s body.

The device is placed in the vagina and remains there for a prescribed period while fertilization and early embryo development occur. Your body naturally provides the warm environment needed during this critical stage, while the device protects the developing embryos.

This innovative approach is called intravaginal culture, and it’s the foundation of the Effortless IVF™ process.

How does INVOcell fit into IVF?

While INVOcell changes where fertilization occurs, the procedure still focuses on creating healthy embryos for uterine transfer. During an Effortless IVF™ cycle, medications stimulate your ovaries to mature multiple eggs. 

Our team retrieves the eggs, combines them with sperm, and places them inside the INVOcell device rather than in a traditional laboratory incubator. The device is then positioned in the vagina, where the body provides a naturally controlled environment for fertilization and early embryo development.

After the culture period, our team removes the device and evaluates the developing embryos in the laboratory. We then select an embryo to transfer into your uterus, where implantation and pregnancy can occur.
