Starting a family is a joyful milestone, but for many, infertility can turn that joy into frustration and uncertainty. In vitro fertilization (IVF) has helped countless families grow, yet the process can feel overwhelming, expensive, and time-consuming.
Effortless IVF™ offers an alternative to conventional IVF that’s designed to simplify the journey while keeping success rates high.
At Effortless IVF™ in Bedford and Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Kevin Doody and Dr. Kathleen Doody have innovated traditional IVF, making it more accessible without sacrificing quality. Knowing the differences between Effortless IVF™ and standard IVF can help you choose the best path forward for your family.
With traditional IVF, eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and combined with sperm in a laboratory. Fertilization takes place in a controlled environment using high-tech incubators. Embryos are closely monitored over several days to ensure proper development before one or more are transferred into the uterus for implantation.
This process allows precise monitoring and can be paired with genetic testing before transfer. However, it often requires frequent clinic visits, numerous lab procedures, and higher costs due to advanced equipment and increased staffing needs.
Effortless IVF™ follows the same initial steps of stimulating the ovaries and retrieving eggs. The main difference comes after retrieval. Instead of fertilizing eggs in a lab incubator, the sperm and eggs are placed in a small device called an INVOcell®.
This device is then placed inside the vagina for fertilization and early embryo development. After about five days, the device is removed, and the embryos are evaluated. The healthiest embryo is transferred to the uterus, with any extras frozen for future use as desired.
While both Effortless IVF™ and traditional IVF share the same goal, there are key differences.
Traditional IVF uses lab incubators, while Effortless IVF™ relies on the natural environment of the body to nurture embryos in their earliest stages.
Because it eliminates the need for certain lab equipment and reduces clinic visits, Effortless IVF™ is more affordable. This makes it an appealing option for couples who might otherwise be priced out of treatment.
Effortless IVF™ typically requires fewer office visits and no routine blood draws during the cycle, which can be a relief for busy schedules, or those who live far from our fertility center.
Some patients feel that Effortless IVF™ allows them to play a more direct role in their treatment, since their body is an integral part of the incubation process. Others prefer the more traditional lab-controlled environment.
The choice between Effortless IVF™ and traditional IVF often depends on your health history, fertility goals, budget, and location. Effortless IVF™ works well for many people, especially those with normal to high egg counts, couples with mild male infertility, or individuals seeking a more natural, and streamlined process.
If you’re considering fertility treatment, our Effortless IVF™ team can guide you through both options and help you make the choice that feels right for you.
